Daniel Sosna, Maike Melles, Lenka Brunclíková, Petr Jehlička and Evelien de Hoop (2026) Kvantifikace a naléhavost: příklad potravinového odpadu, konference Budoucnost potravin (Monika Kyselá a Naděžda Čadová org.), 15. 10. 2026, Praha.

The paper was presented in Czech. English abstract:

This presentation explores the relationship between quantification of food waste and urgency. The collective of authors traces the genealogy food waste as a category and its social life, as amplified by figures, graphs, and tables. The authors approach quantification as a technology of urgency that awakens society and encourages it into action. On the one hand, quantification enables the standardisation, comparison, and communication of certain forms of knowledge; on the other hand, it has unintended consequences.
